Removing Tea Stains From Your Wool Carpet

Wool is one of the favorite kind of fabric for carpets for a number of reasons. It certainly is beautiful and elegant yet it also provides the warmth and comfort which you can’t get with other kinds of fabric. Wool carpets though, like any other kind of carpet fabric, can stain and would need proper attention and care to clean it up completely. One kind of stain which can be problematic is tea stains. Many people enjoy a cup of tea in the morning or afternoon and accidents can’t completely be avoided and countless people have to deal with spilled tea on their wool carpets. To help those who are in this very situation, below is a guide that you can use to show you how to remove the tea stains from wool carpets.

1. Clean the Spill Immediately – Cleaning up the spill as soon as you can is important to avoid it from spreading to unaffected parts of the carpet. It also prevents it from setting and causing a stain which is much harder to remove. As soon as the spill happens, get some paper towels and absorb the excess tea on the carpet. Don’t rub the stain as you’ll only make it worse. Simply blotting the spilled area will help you get out the excess liquid.
2. Create a Cleaning Solution – After clearing up any excess liquid from the spilled area, you are now left with only the tea stain to deal with. Before you can start the process of cleaning this up, you’ll first need to create a cleaning solution to apply onto the stain. This is very simple to do as you’ll just need to mix a cup of white vinegar with a cup of warm water. Place this mixture inside a spray bottle.
3. Apply the Cleaning Solution on the Tea Stain – Spray the soiled area with the cleaning solution you just made and let it set for a minute or two. Then, get a clean white cloth and start blotting the stain. If the solution dries up, spray the stained area a few times and resume blotting. Continue this until the stain is completely gone.
4. Rinse the Carpet with Water – The last step which you’ll need to take is to rinse the part of the carpet you just cleaned with water. Then, dry everything up using clean towels or rags.

There you have it. In just a few steps you can return your beautiful wool carpet back to normal. Follow the tips above and surely cleaning up tea spills and stains will no longer be a problem for you anymore.
